Food Court (Google UX Course Project)
Wakama Ene | UX Designer & Graphic Designer| Tools: Figma

Overview:
This is a personal project which I chose to embark on and I’ve always had ideas to build a food app so I put out my inspiration using some of my knowledge from my Google UX Design Course to get the project done.
Problem statement:
My focus for this design was to create a design for a food app to help solve the food demand for users in my country. Also, I used this to show my skills in using Figma.
Scope and constraints:
The Scope of the project are as follows:
The only constraint I had in designing this project was that this wasn't a project that would pay me in cash but it paid me well off in experience and in knowledge thanks to Google.
Design Process & Solution:
Empathize
The first step in the project was to Empathize with users using Primary Research methods (Surveys, Interviews) and secondary research methods (Competitive UX Audits) to understand pain points that users are going through. I create and ran surveys and interviews with people in various demographics so I could have a wide knowledge of the pain points from various perspectives of users. I also ran Competitive UX Audit on various companies in the food ordering Industries to find out how users are experiencing their products and what problems or pain points the go through

Define
Creating the personas helps me to understand users' needs, experiences, behaviors and goals when it comes to the food court project. It also prepared me for the frustrations of users which helps me create a design solution to solve these issues. I also create user stories to help articulate the value of the product feature and have a better understanding of why users want a certain functionality.

Wire frame
My next step was creating the wire frames for the app which required me sketching it on paper. This sometimes is my est part of the process because I'm artistic normally (I can draw) and it helps me express ideas for designing. The wire frames gave me clarity ad a guidance for designing and helped me not to make a lot of mistakes when designing.

Design
I designed up to 30 UI pages for the project. This included the menu pop up, Payment section using cards as there are some users who may not want cash payments. The design had a creative way of allowing users choose the type of food they’ll love to order, whether it be Home Cooked Meals, Restaurant Meals, Snacks and also Vegan food.
Conclusion
The end point of the design was fruitful because an online company saw my design and my experience in food app designs and purchased the structure as well as hiring me for the UI/UX design of their app. It was lovely working on this, I love projects that get my creative juices flowing. And remember “Design is Life”.
What did I learn?
I learnt more about having to have a drive and passion for projects because this project really require that from me. Resilence is a key to greatness.
